Seems things are starting to move on getting our current place either sold or using it as a HELOC tool to finance the new house at Valhalla. We currently have about 1800 sq ft. and 3 Ac which appraised surprisingly high last week. We already have a cash tentative offer from a neighbor so we will see how that goes. We will be building a house just a bit smaller on the farmstead but with easy add-on options later.
This week’s accomplishments were few, as our rainy weather forced me to mow on a day I had set aside for working on the cabarn. We did finally finish the framing for the bathroom area and got the tongue and groove outside wall up and cedar rafter in for the loft. The next steps are finishing the loft walls and using birch marine plywood for walls inside the shower area trimmed out in cedar as well.
Also, our Airstone arrived for the corner behind the wood stove and that project looms, but first I am taking down the cement board and re-framing that corner. It has a bit too much flex for my liking and I do not want to have rocks falling off the wall! For those unfamiliar Airstone is a manufactured stone that looks like naturally cut field stone but weighs less than half the real thing. It is fireproof and designed to work around fireplaces etc.
And for our fun, this past week was the visit to Pfarr Farms in the Hocking Hills to window shop for Highland cows! See the previous post. We can’t wait to sit on the porch and watch our Highlands grazing in the pasture! Finally, we stole another gallon of delicious raspberries from the bears, foxes, and raccoons who devour them at every opportunity, and snagged this year’s first handful of blackberries!
Now off to start the next project!
