It’s been a fairly busy week or so. More wall building and we did get the loft floor partially done. We have an Amish contractor coming in a few days to look at putting a porch on and adding one more window (I know my limits lol). Blackberries are starting to ripen which should produce some good mead soon!

The next big project in the Cabarn is putting the stone in the corner where the woodstove will reside. Btw I can hardily recommend Jotul stoves! Of course, the fact that they are Scandinavian did nothing to help me pick their products. More on the baby woodstove in a later post. Meanwhile, we ended up framing out the bathroom ceiling/loft floor in red cedar and arctic birch and it is looking pretty good! We are using multiple coats of tung oil to waterproof the area around the shower.

I am still window shopping for the new tractor and the price jump from 25/26HP to 35/37HP is quite a lot. The current tractor is a minuscule  19hp and just struggles at times. So we are trying to justify making that leap from 25-35HP and the cost is nearly double to do so. The major want in the new tractor is a bucket as it is something that will be used daily on the property.

I have also taken to carrying my new primitive neck knife which was custom made for me by HF Survival School. The handle is reindeer antler and mammoth ivory! I really love this little knife.

Perhaps the biggest news is that we are on the house builder’s schedule for a November groundbreaking! We should actually be on the property full-time by next March!
